James W. Jarvis is the founder and President of the firm. Well known in the aviation industry and legal community, Mr. Jarvis represents airlines, aircraft and engine leasing companies, governments and individuals world-wide in complex commercial aviation transactions and all aspects of related litigation. The firm has an extensive network in the aviation industry, including governmental authorities, technical experts, and specialized associate legal counsel around the world, providing clients with comprehensive global representation. Mr. Jarvis is a member of the Florida Bar Association, International Bar Association, American Bar Association, Miami-Dade County Bar Association, and the Lawyer Pilots Bar Association. He is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Mediator and Appellate Mediator. Mr. Jarvis is also board certified in the practice of Aviation Law by the Florida Bar Association. Certification is the highest level of evaluation by The Florida Bar of competency and experience of attorneys within an area of law, and professionalism and ethics in practice approved for certification by the Supreme Court of Florida. With more than 40 years of legal experience, he previously served as the vice-president and general counsel of Batchelor Enterprises (the Miami aviation conglomerate of the late George E. Batchelor) and has nearly 50 years of experience as a commercial pilot and all aspects of aircraft maintenance. Mr. Jarvis has long had an interest in field of aviation, beginning in the military where he served in the United States Marine Corps Air Wing. He is a decorated Vietnam veteran, where he served a helicopter crew chief and maintenance check crew leader. Mr. Jarvis earned his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Biscayne College, now known as St. Thomas University. |
